Saint Joseph's College men's basketball graduate guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine joined the Monks' 1,000-Point Club when he netted 15 points in a 75-52 victory over the University of Southern Maine at the Harold Alfond Center on Friday, December 30th.

Foley, the 44th member of the SJC men's basketball 1,000-Point Club, entered the non-conference contest four points shy of the milestone and surpassed the mark with a layup at the 11:31 mark of the first half. Junior guard Camryn Yorke (Auburn, Maine) was credited with the assist on Foley's field goal.

He finished the game versus USM with 15 points on a 5-for-10 shooting effort from the floor and a 4-for-4 free throw shooting performance.

Foley, who scored a game-high 25 points in a 91-81 win over Anna Maria College last night, has scored 1,036 points in 76 career games (63 starts) while shooting 48.6% (387-796) from the floor, 37.1% (125-337) from three-point land, and 75.3% (137-182) from the charity stripe. He has also tallied 247 rebounds, 166 assists, 55 steals, and 30 blocked shots during his career.

What makes Foley's achievement so impressive is the fact that he reached the four-digit mark in essentially three seasons. As a freshman during the 2018-19 campaign, he netted just six points in eight games as a reserve player and was limited to only six games during the pandemic-shortened 2021 season.

No member of the Monks' 1,000-Point Club has netted fewer than six points in a season – the next closest is Steve Simonds '15, who scored 24 as a first-year player in 2011-12.

As a sophomore, Foley showed flashes of things to come by averaging 11.5 points over 24 games, including 19 starts. He contributed 15.0 points per contest during the truncated 2021 season and exceeded expectations during his senior year, when he averaged 17.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27 games.

In 11 games this winter, Foley leads the team with a 16.7 PPG average while shooting 47.8% (64-134) from the field and 78.2% (43-55) from the free throw line.

Foley joins classmate Nicholas Curtis (Windham, Maine) and former teammates Ian Mileikis '19, Darian Berry '19, and Jack Casale '21 in the Monks' 1,000-Point Club.
