The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) has been named as the GNAC Co-Player and Rookie of the Week.
Waryas notched a pair of hat trick performances in two GNAC victories for the Monks last week. The freshman forward put a three-spot on the board in a 4-3 comeback overtime victory at Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday and provided all the team's offense in a 3-1 triumph at USJ on Saturday.
In 15 games this fall Waryas has scored 15 goals with three assists for 33 total points. She leads the conference with five game-winning goals and ranks third in shots (84) and fifth in both goals and points.
For Waryas, the weekly awards are the second and third of her college career. She was also selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week on September 19th.
Saint Joseph's (10-6, 7-2 GNAC) will host Colby College on Thursday in a non-conference matchup set to start at 7:00 PM.
