The Bowdoin women's soccer team exploded for seven second half goals to cruise past visiting Maine Maritime 8-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (5-1-0) return to the win column, while dropping the Mariners below .500 (2-3-1).
Game Highlights
- The teams battled in the midfield until Bowdoin broke through in the 12th minute. The ball deflected Jade Cromwell in the center and veered towards Samaya Bernardo on the right post. Bernardo finished off the play to put Bowdoin ahead 1-0.
- The Mariners held the Polar Bears without a goal for the next 40 minutes of action, until Bowdoin put together a flurry of goals within a two minute span to begin the second.
- Rachael Peacock and Morgan Smiley scored within 15 seconds and Smiley tacked on another two minutes later.
- Peacock added another goal in the 63rd minute that deflected off Lo Hoglin, setting up the tally.
- Megan Lymburner capitalized on an initial shot by Grace Travis that resulted in a big rebound off the goalie's hands.
- Ella Olcese capped the game with a pair of goals in the final 14 minutes.
