Bowdoin quarterback Andrew Boel (Wyckoff, N.J.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Polar Bears' dominating week one win over Hamilton on Saturday.
Boel earns NESCAC Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career following a 17-20 passing performance for 249 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown in Bowdoin's 41-13 win. He threw scoring strikes of 7, 30 and 72 yards in the victory and led the Polar Bears to their highest-scoring output since September of 2009. Boel's completion percentage was the best in a single game in school history (85%) with 20 or more attempts, and the second-highest passing efficiency rating (249.0) in a Division III game this season.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at Williams College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
