The Polar Bears kicked off the Fall 2022 season with four regattas throughout New England include the Harman Trophy at Maine Maritime, the Harvard Invite, the Toni Deutsch at MIT, and the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale.
Racing was limited up at Maine Maritime with four races taking place on Saturday and no racing on Sunday. The team composed of Tbo Antonietti, Jondall Norris, Meg Gonzalez, and Ethan Danielson sailed a clean event with great boathandling in the Colgates. The team won three of the four races and won the event. This result qualifies the team for Match Race NE Champs at Coast Guard October 15-16.
At the Harvard Invite, eight races were completed in conditions that ranged from 4-8 knots. Kyra Phelan and Isabelle Tsuchitori finished 5th, Ben Stevens and Aidan Michelow finished 9th, and Jonathan Chance and Caleb Adams-Hull finished 10th out of the seventeen teams competing.
The Polar Bears had two teams competing at the Toni Deutsch Regatta at MIT. Fourteen races were completed in each division with the Polar Bears finishing eighth and tenth overall our of eighteen teams competing. The Polar Bears had some good scores in some shifty races. Sailing for the Polar Bears was Ellie Maus, Hattie Slayton, Teagan Cunningham, Sophie Brett, Kyra Phelan, Lauren Russler, Christine Reimer, Lulu Louchheim, Lizzy Kaplan, and Brooke Asherman.
Finally, the team competed at the Harry Anderson Trophy hosted by Yale. This regatta featured the best sailing conditions of the weekend and twelve races were completed in each division. The Polar Bears had a good event and finished 7th overall. Chris Lukens and Timmy Gee competed in A division with Sam Bonauto and Holliss Hirsch in B division. Alex Kitay was a reserve.
This upcoming weekend, the Polar Bears will compete in the Hatch Brown at MIT, the Regis Trophy at Harvard, the Barnett at Bowdoin, and Open and Women's Singlehanded Champs at Brown.
