The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against NJCAA-opponent Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) at the Cougar Classic in Holyoke, Mass. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
The FIT Tigers jumped out to a first-half 1-0 lead on a redirected ball behind the SMCC defense. The Seawolves evened the score midway through the second on a delivery by first-year Emilienne Biddings-Augustine (New Gloucester, Maine) that found the back-post run of first-year Chanelle McDonough (Gorham, Maine) for her first collegiate goal.
Head Coach Ethan Wells stated, "This team is battle tested. A heavy load of competition in the preseason, followed by adverse conditions on Sunday, give us the experiences we need to be successful the rest of the way. The focus turns to Central Maine on Thursday."
The Lady Seawolves meet their in-state rivals Central Maine Community College in Auburn on Thursday, Sept. 8 in non-conference action beginning at 6:00 p.m.
