The "Untitled (Just Blue) 2023" piece by Allie Wittmann MFA ’22 suspended in the middle of the ICA’s back exhibition room reflects the artist’s research of materiality, light, and form.
“[U]se of cast shadows, spatial awareness, and form decenters the necessity of a tangible art object within contemporary artwork,” explains Wittmann’s artist statement.
“Work references and pays tribute to the Light and Space movement, while also using the environment of the present. These elements converse with movement within a space and spiritual connections, similar to stained glass windows and the landscapes outside them.”
