Bowdoin College Polar Bears Race to Third Place Finish in Men's Maine Winter Collegiate Swimming Invitational

The Bowdoin men's swimming & diving team finished comfortably in third place at the 2022 Maine Collegiate Winter Invitational.

 

Meet Highlights

  • The 200 free relay team of Rhys Edwards, Ethan O'Connor, Alex Grand'Pierre, and Steve Ward were third with a time of 1:23.56.
  • The 400 relay returned a similar result, this time put together by John McGowan, Penn Lee, Ward and Grand'Pierre (3:06.39).
  • Grand'Pierre continued a strong career in the 50 breaststroke with a first place finish (25.81) and set a new pool and meet record. On Saturday, Grand'Pierre won the 100 (55.77) and 200 breaststroke (2:02.68), with an NCAA B cut time in the 100.
  • Jack Tran earned a second place finish in the 50 backstroke (23.60).
  • Neman Mocombe swept the diving events. Taking first on Friday in the 1-meter with a tally of 243.95. On Saturday, Macombe won the 3-meter with a score of 233.70.
  • Bowdoin finished second through fourth in the 400 IM, with Dylan Zhang, Liam Roehr, and Brim Peabody touching the wall in that order.
  • Roehr turned in a top-two finish in the 200 backstroke (1:52.59). Danny Calder was third in the 200 fly (1:58.39).
  • Ward and McGowan finished first and fourth in the 200 free with times of 1:43.79 and 1:45.03, respectively.
  • The men dominated the 100 IM with the Polar Bears taking five of the top six spots. Zhang earned the win (51.12) with Grand'Pierre nabbing second (51.30).
