On 11/11/22 at approximately 1210 hours, Cumberland County RCC took a report from a citizen that a male was holding his wife hostage at gunpoint. Deputies responded to the scene and began to form a perimeter around the residence and make contact with the male inside. Prior to making contact, the male fired a gun from inside the residence. Deputies then approached the residence and were able to get the male to give up the firearm and surrender peacefully. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
The Male (75) involved in the incident was transported to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation. The Sheriff’s Office with follow up on the Medical Evaluations and coordinate with the District Attorney’s office to determine what resolution is appropriate to keep everyone safe. If the male is ultimately charged with crimes this release will be updated. This case remains under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
