Motor Vehicle Crash
On the above date and time, the Cumberland County Regional dispatch took a call from a nearby homeowner reporting a vehicle upside down in the ditch with a utility pole snapped off. The Sheriff’s Office and Raymond Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Upon investigating it was found that Lucas Gaudin (18) of Raymond, was operating a 2002 Volkswagon GTI southbound on Rte. 85. Gaudin lost control of his vehicle crossing the northbound lane and going airborne before striking a utility pole causing it to snap off.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof. Gaudin was able to exit the vehicle but his Juvenile passenger (16), was trapped in the vehicle. The juvenile was ultimately removed from the vehicle by Raymond Fire.
Raymond Rescue and Windham Rescue transported Gaudin and his juvenile passenger to Maine Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The Windham Police Department Reconstruction Team responded to assist in the investigation. This incident remains under investigation and speed is considered the primary factor in this crash. The roadway was closed for several hours while CMP repaired the pole and wires.
The road is back open at this time.
