Bowdoin College Women's Lacrosse Falls Behind Early, Can't Recover in Loss at Wesleyan

The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team couldn't dig out from an early hole in a 14-5 setback at Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears fall to 3-4 (1-3 NESCAC) with the loss while the Cardinals move to 6-1 (2-1 NESCAC).

 

Game Highlights

  • Wesleyan scored the first three goals of the game and sprinted to an 8-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
  • Bowdoin was able to cut the lead to 8-3 at halftime thanks to a pair of late goals by Sophia Schaefer.
  • The Cardinals buried all hopes of a comeback to open the second half, however, scoring the first four goals out of halftime and extending their lead to 12-3 early in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.
By The Numbers

  • Fiona Bundy and Sophia Schaefer had two goals apiece for Bowdoin.
  • Bundy also had four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Anna Paulmann had three caused turnovers for the Polar Bears, who had Izzy Cisneros (one save) and Sophie Brett (six saves) split time in net, along with the final three minutes for Sophia Rutman (no saves).
