Bowdoin College Polar Bears Wrap Up Florida Trip With Doubleheader Split

The Bowdoin softball team split a pair of games against St. Catherine University and Union College to conclude play in Florida.

 

The Polar Bears return home with a 7-7 record. The Wildcats are 6-8 following the 12-6 victory over Bowdoin. Bowdoin pinned an 8-2 setback on Union (0-6).

 

Game One Highlights

  • St. Kate's jumped to a 5-0 lead after one inning of action.
  • Ava Biasotti put Bowdoin in the game with one swing of the bat with a three-run double.
  • The Wildcats stretched their lead to 7-3 with a pair of RBI singles.
  • Power hitting continued to keep the Polar Bears close as Katryna Dukehart knocked a two-run double in the third.
  • St. Kate's added five more runs in the remaining innings, with Bowdoin only mustering one rebuttal run in the top of the seventh.
  • JK Bradley, Angelina Mayers, Shea Sullivan, Dukehart, and Biasotti all had multi-hit days.
  • Bowdoin stranded eight runners on base.
  • Biasotti and Abby Allen each pitched three innings.

Game Two Highlights

  • Bowdoin produced eight runs in the first three innings.
  • After allowing one Union run to open the game, Bradley and Sullivan both recorded RBI in the bottom of the inning.
  • Bradley added an RBI single in the second. Mayers tagged a one-run double and Dukehart sent a sacrifice fly to center that plated Bradley.
  • Bowdoin scored three runs in the third to make it 8-1.
  • Union snuck one more run across the plate in the fourth inning, but could not close the scoring gap.
  • Maddie Current pitched a complete game and allowed just two hits and one earned run. Current fanned six batters.
  • Bradley, Mayers, and Kyla Gary all had two hits. Bradley drove in three runs.
