Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, representing Maine’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2009, has expressed her views on several legislative and environmental issues through a series of tweets. Pingree, who succeeded Tom Allen, is known for her active involvement in matters concerning both national policies and local interests.

On January 23, 2025, Congresswoman Pingree criticized the President's decision to revoke Biden-era vehicle pollution and fuel economy standards. She highlighted the inconsistency between concerns about electric grid strain due to electric vehicles (EVs) and the plan to invest heavily in artificial intelligence (AI), which she argues will require more energy than EV goals. "On Tuesday, the President revoked Biden-era vehicle pollution and fuel economy standards."

Later that day, Pingree addressed a legislative proposal related to infanticide laws. She emphasized that infanticide is already illegal across all states and was codified by Congress unanimously in 2002. She suggested that this new bill aims to restrict access to reproductive healthcare and criminalize providers unnecessarily. "Infanticide is already illegal in all 50 states."

In another tweet posted on January 23, Pingree acknowledged the significance of forest-harvesting and management but raised concerns about a particular bill's implications on environmental review processes. She warned that it might compromise biodiversity protections despite its positive intentions towards forest management practices."I recognize and support the important role forest-harvesting and management plays in Maine."
