The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball program will begin its 28-game spring slate next week at Penn State- Mont Alto (USCAA) on Friday, Mar. 17.

Head Coach Nic Lops is excited and feels that his team is well prepared for the upcoming season, “I am very much looking forward to what’s ahead. This team has a large number of strong returning players who will provide good leadership both on and off the field, as well as a group of first-year players looking to make an immediate impact.

Our guys have been working hard throughout the winter to get prepared for a busy and tough spring schedule. This team understands the pillars of our program, and it is their mission to go execute those pillars on a daily basis, one by one.”

The Seawolves look to build on a 6-4 start from the fall and repeat as Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) champions—a feat they have accomplished for five straight seasons.

SMCC will play a 3-game series with three other conference opponents in Central Maine Community College, Great Bay Community College, and NHTI. Non-conference competition features prominent National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) schools highlighted by the Community College of Rhode Island, Northern Essex Community College, and the University of Connecticut at Avery Point.

SMCC will be host to the 2023 YSCC Championships at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach on Friday, May 5. Should the Seawolves return to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series for the third consecutive season, they would travel to DuBois, Penn. for competition to begin on Sunday, May 14.
