The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team never trailed in an 11-8 win at Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon. The 16th-ranked Polar Bears earn their first NESCAC victory of the year and improve to 2-1 (1-1 NESCAC) while the 22nd-ranked Continentals fall to 0-2 (0-2 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- In cold and snowy conditions in Upstate New York, the Polar Bears scored three times in the opening 5:15 to take the early lead.
- Sophia Sudano got the Polar Bears on the board and then Fiona Bundy assisted on Emelia Krakora and Lauren Burke tallies to give the visitors the early edge.
- Hamilton cut the lead to a single goal on two occasions in the first half, but Krakora and Sudano scored 21 seconds apart in the final minute of the half to give Bowdoin a 7-4 lead at the break.
- Hamilton trimmed the lead to 7-6 midway through the third quarter, but Bowdoin stemmed the tide, using a 4-1 run over an 11-minute span to take a commanding 11-7 lead with under ten to go.
- Sophia Sudano and Emelia Krakora led Bowdoin with three goals apiece.
- Fiona Bundy had a goal and two assists along with three draw controls. Krakora added four draws and two ground balls in the win.
- Hannah Gold had two caused turnovers for the Polar Bear defense as Izzy Cisneros (seven saves) and Sophie Brett (four saves) split time in net for Bowdoin.
