The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior forward Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) has been tabbed as the GNAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Abbott collects the first GNAC weekly honor of his basketball career after averaging 16.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 66.7% (20-30) from the floor, 50% (5-10) from beyond the arc, and 83.3% (5-6) from the charity stripe in a huge 3-0 conference week for the Monks. In a 76-65 victory over Norwich on Saturday, Abbott was perfect from the floor (7-7), downtown (3-3), and the FT line (3-3) with 19 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots. He also contributed 11 points and 12 boards at Rivier and went for 20 points and eight rebounds against Dean.

Through 20 games, Abbott is averaging 12.8 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 54.4% (106-195) from the field, 36.2% (21-58) from three-point distance, and 71.9% (23-32) from the FT line. He currently leads the team in rebounding and ranks second on the squad in scoring average and field goals made (106).

Abbott is the first SJC men's basketball player to claim GNAC Player of the Week honors since Jack Casale '21 earned the award on February 18th, 2020.
