Meet Unity College Distance Education student Jessica | Unity College
Jessica recently took the Animal Training and Care course at Unity College with Dr. Kristyn Vitale.
I am 39 years old and live in Rhode Island with my husband Rich, our 4 kids Jacob, Morgan, Andrew, and Brady, 2 dogs Loki and Luna, and a bearded dragon Oscar.
I knew that I wanted to do something related to helping animals and I happened to be searching for vet tech classes one day when I came across Unity College. Unity sounded perfect for me with the choices of majors and the ability to attend through distance education. This was the best decision I could have made for me to get an education.
So far, I have enjoyed every class that I have taken, and all the professors have been great. I did have a scare just after starting classes and I thought I was going to have to stop as I was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer. I had surgery to remove the cancerous section and I am currently receiving chemotherapy bi-weekly. However, I did not let this discourage me and I am staying positive! Despite needing to take breaks I can still take classes because of the availability of online learning, and I am so happy because I love it!
The most recent class I have taken was Animal Training and Care with Dr. Kristyn Vitale and she was amazing! This class was full of information, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning all the various aspects of training animals. The materials and lectures provided weekly are great for getting the assignments done.
As far as my future career goals are concerned, I am still unsure of what I want to do. I genuinely believe that Unity can help me figure that out and I am excited to write this next chapter!
