The Bowdoin men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 overtime tie at Amherst on Friday evening.
The Mammoths (12-4-3, 10-2-1 NESCAC) scored early in the third period, but the Polar Bears (11-6-2, 5-6-2 NESCAC) answered a minute later to tie the game.
Game Highlights
- The two teams played 40 solid minutes of scoreless hockey.
- Five minutes into the final period, Amherst capitalized on a turnover in front of the Bowdoin net. Alton Machen tracked down the loose puck just beyond the crease and one-timed a shot past Alex Kozic.
- The Polar Bears answered 1:20 later. Albert Washco moved the puck from the left side, around the circle, and took a shot to the near post. Jimmy Duffy was on the post and poked in the puck to make it 1-1.
By the Numbers
- Kozic made 32 saves in net for the Polar Bears. The goalie made double digit saves in the first and third periods and added three in overtime.
- Alex Wisco made 24 total stops, with a high of 11 in the second. Wisco stopped five shots in overtime.
- Amherst was 0-for-5 on the power play.
- Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play.
