The Bowdoin women's hockey team rallied twice but could not hold off Middlebury in a 4-2 setback on Friday night.
The Polar Bears sit at 7-8-0 and 2-7-0 NESCAC. The sixth-ranked Panthers are 9-4-1 (5-2-0 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- The Panthers scored the game's first goal at 7:30 in the first. Jordan Hower received a big breakout pass from Cece Ziegler who fed her at the Bowdoin blue line. Hower skated towards net for a one-on-goal and beat Dani Marquez at the near left post.
- Allie Britt tied the game with 3:26 remaining in the second period. Britt skated onto a puck skidding into the Middlebury zone. Britt turned on goal and earned a one-on-one with the goalie, pulling all the way right to score.
- Middlebury answered two minutes later to regain the lead. Zoe Pincelli controlled the puck behind the net and fed Sabrina Kim in the low slot.
- Britt again found an equalizer, this time on the power play in the third. Britt tapped in a short pass on the left post.
- The Panthers regained the lead two minutes later. Britt Nawrocki garnered control of the puck between the circles and handled in front of the crease. Nawrocki found an opening and put Middlebury ahead 3-2.
- Middlebury iced the game with an empty-net goal with 20 seconds remaining.
