"My journey at Unity College began in January 2022. I selected Unity to further my education because it provided a distance education program that worked for me. I could not relocate easily as my family resides in Massachusetts, so being able to earn a master’s degree without leaving my home state was a gift in my opinion. I have to say my favorite class was “Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management” because it challenged me to use existing knowledge and new knowledge while executing a Structured Decision Making (SDM) approach. I did not know the SDM process before this class, but now I feel educated and able to apply the approach in my future endeavors.

My favorite professor at Unity was Dr. Toree Williams. She was my Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management professor and pushed her students to do their absolute best. The class was not easy and was loaded with work, but Dr. Toree Williams provided constant feedback and support when needed. Dr. Toree Williams wanted her students to succeed in the course and in life which was evident through the challenges she assigned. After being a student at Unity college, I was able to walk away with more confidence in my public communication skills, my ability to execute independent research, and my ability to find partnerships when needed. Those three takeaways were areas where I previously struggled, but now I am equipped with an effective approach to handling communication, research, and partnership.

Now that I have graduated, I hope to work in a field that will ultimately lead me to a game warden position. I know the path to a government position is not easy, but I feel prepared to work my way through various wildlife conservation and management positions to get where I want to be because of my time at Unity College."
