The United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors have been announced and three Saint Joseph's College women's players have earned accolades.
Senior defender Keelin Sweeney (Hollis, Maine) has claimed Region I Second Team honors while senior forward Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) and junior striker Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone (Winthrop, Maine) are listed on the All-Region I Third Team.
Sweeney established herself as one of the top defenders in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this fall and rightfully garnered First Team All-GNAC honors as a senior. The 2022 tri-captain started all 20 of the Monks' matches this season and is the first SJC defender to earn All-Region acclaim since 2017 when current assistant coach Emily DeLuca '18 earned United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-New England honors.
Michaud, a two-time All-GNAC selection, earns the first All-Region award of her career after tying for the team lead in points (27) with 11 goals and five assists in 17 games. The senior forward and two-year captain completed her college career with 28 goals and 13 assists for 69 total points along with eight game-winning tallies in 49 games across three seasons.
Michaud leaves the program ranked among the Monks' all-time leaders in game winners (T-4th), goals per game (0.57, 6th), shots (162, 6th), points per game (1.41, 7th), goals (10th), and points (11th).
Wilson-Falcone takes home the first postseason award of her career after leading the team in goals (12) and tying for the squad lead in points (27) in 2022. The junior forward added three game-winners and netted the fourth-most goals in the conference this fall.
Under the watch of 10th-year Head Coach Jenelle Harris, the Monks posted a 10-9-1 overall record with a 9-3-1 mark in conference play en route to securing the #4 seed in the GNAC Tournament. St. Joe's opened the postseason with a decisive 3-1 quarterfinal victory over #5 Regis College on October 29th before being clipped in the semifinal round, 1-0, by top-seeded Johnson & Wales University, which proceeded to win the GNAC Championship for the third-consecutive season.
