The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has collected Rookie of the Week honors from both organizations.
Stapelfeld was an all-around contributor for the Monks last week as the freshman guard averaged 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in a 2-0 week. She netted 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds while dealing five assists in a win at UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday and chipped in with seven points and a pair of assists in a triumph over University of Southern Maine on Sunday.
Through six games this fall Stapelfeld is averaging 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest while shooting 48.3% (14-29) from the floor and 30.8% (4-13) from three-point distance. She currently ranks second on the team in FG% and is third in total assists (14).
