Southern Maine Community College Uses Big First Quarter To Cruise Past Maine-Farmington

The Seawolves (7-1) scored 22 points and opened up an 11-point lead in the first quarter as they easily handled the NCAA Division III Beavers from the University of Maine at Farmington on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Sophomore captain Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 6-12 from distance. First-year captain Jaylyn Bartolome (Sanford, Maine) recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, and junior captain Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. First-years Hailie Casey (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) and Jasmine Aloisio (South Berwick, Maine) both put up four points and seven rebounds off the bench— Aloisio adding two assists and two blocks.

Grace Dwyer had 11 points and four rebounds to lead Maine-Farmington. Jalyn Stacey posted 10 points and seven rebounds.

The win marks the seventh-consecutive for SMCC, moving to 7-1 overall.
