Southern Maine Community College Cruises To 52-Point Victory In Albany

The Seawolves (6-1, 3-0 YSCC) had four players score in double-figures as they dominated the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action on the road Sunday, Nov. 20.

SMCC was led by junior Hope Butler (Rockland, Maine) who logged 17 points on 7-8 shooting and 3-4 from downtown. Sophomore captain Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) added 14 points, shooting 5-9 and making three triples. Junior captain Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) totaled 13 points and three steals, and senior Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench. First-year Hailie Casey (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) notched five points and six rebounds.

The Seawolves shot 42.3 percent (20-71) from the field, 31 percent (9-29) from long-range and 60 percent (9-15) from the free throw line.

Dida Slusrasek led ACPHS with 14 points and five rebounds.

The action continues when SMCC plays host to NCAA Div. 3 University of Maine at Farmington in an exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 27. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
