Bowdoin College Coetzer and Jennings Net All-NESCAC Field Hockey Honors

Senior Georgie Coetzer was named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year and classmate Faith Jennings received all-conference accolades following the 2022 field hockey season.

Senior defender Georgie Coetzer (Johannesburg, South Africa) was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection. Classmate Faith Jennings (Ghent, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Conference recognition.

Coetzer becomes the fourth Polar Bear to be named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, joining Ella Curren '12, Brook Phinney '13, and Kim Kahnweiler '16 in receiving the honor. Coetzer anchored a defense that allowed just 1.44 goals per game and a .580 shots on goal percentage. The defender added three defensive saves in her final season as a Polar Bear. Coetzer was a key contributor on Bowdoin's offensive corners and scored nine goals while adding five assists. Jennings and Coetzer co-led the team with nine goals apiece.

Jennings earns a second consecutive all-conference selection after being named All-NESCAC in 2021 as well. Jennings matched Coetzer with a team-high nine goals and tallied nine assists, again co-leading the team. Jennings led the conference in assists in league play as all nine helpers came against NESCAC opponents.
