The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this past weekend to conclude our regular season this fall including the Nickerson Trophy at Tufts, the Schell Trophy at Coast Guard, and the Urn Trophy at Brown.
The Nickerson Trophy features the top first years in the country. The event this year was plagued by light winds which prevented the hosts from competing the minimum number of races to count the regatta. Lauren Russler, Isabelle Tsuchitori, Kyra Phelan, Kique Ruiz, Nellie Ross, and Ethan Danielson competed for the Polar Bears.
At the Urn Trophy hosted by Brown, twelve races were completed in each division. On Saturday, the breeze was NE and very shifty. On Sunday, there was a big of a wind delay before a 4-6 knot southerly sea breeze filled. The Polar Bears finished 6th overall out of the fifteen teams competing. Ellie Maus, Meg Gonzalez, Teagan Cunningham, Lizzy Kaplan, Holliss Hirsch, Brooke Asherman, and Sophie Brett competed for the Polar Bears.
Finally at the Coast Guard Academy, fourteen races were completed in each division over the two day regatta. The breeze was mostly out of the north both days which allowed for efficient racing. The Polar Bears finished seventh overall. Chris Lukens, Tbo Antonietti, Timmy Gee, Thomas Hall, Hattie Slayton, Sam Bonauto, Lulu Louchheim, and Jondall Norris competed for the Polar Bears.
This upcoming weekend is the Women's Singlehanded National Championship at Old Dominion University. Christine Reimer will be representing the Polar Bears.
