The weekend lineup featured several options for live entertainment, including concerts by the Bowdoin Chamber Choir, Bowdoin Chorus, and Bowdoin Concert Band, as well as a vibrant performance by student dance and a cappella groups.
Tours were offered at the Hawthorne-Longfellow Library and Museum of Art, while buildings and classes around campus opened their doors to family members.
After the sun set, those interested in the spooky side of Bowdoin took the Haunted Bowdoin tour, while others interested in timeless theater watched the the College's production of Our Town.
Per tradition, there was also academic fare. The President's Summer Research Symposium was a highlight, with more than 300 students on hand around the quad to explain their projects. The College's top scholars were recognized at the annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day Celebration.
President Clayton Rose, Dean for Academic Affairs Jen Scanlon, and Dean for Student Affairs Janet Lohmann answered questions at a Q&A forum, while two faculty members—Linnean Professor of Biology and Biochemistry Bruce Kohorn and Associate Professor of History Meghan Roberts—gave talks about pectin and eighteenth-century medicine and media, respectively.
And that's not all! Women's rugby, football, and both cross-country teams competed in front of cheering fans. Birders gathered with Sejal Prachand ’24 and Cora Dow ’24 for a bird walk around campus.
Plus, people got to eat delicious food, from s'mores around a campfire to chili and chowder served up at a tasting. For Sunday brunch, families were treated to a meal provided by Bowdoin Dining while listening to live jazz by student musicians.
