Southern Maine Community College Foundation Accepting Light on the Point Nominations

The SMCC Foundation is now accepting nominations for our annual Light on the Point awards ceremony, an occasion to pay tribute to alumni, faculty, staff and the business community for contributions to SMCC and beyond.

Please browse the information below to learn more about the types of awards below and how to provide your submissions, which will be accepted through Friday, September 2. The Light on the Point will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022.

The Categories

  • Alumnus of the Year

    Given to an alumnus of SMCC who has excelled in their industry and contributed to the greater well-being of the community and the college.

  • Staff/Faculty Member of the Year

    Given to an SMCC employee who exceeds expectations while promoting the college’s mission to both the internal and external community.

  • Outstanding Business of the Year

    Given to a business or organization that has supported the College and/or made a significant impact within the business community.

How to Nominate

You can submit your nominations online through Friday, September 2, 2022.

Event & Awards Ceremony

The winners will be celebrated during the SMCC Foundation’s, Light on the Point event on November 3, 2022. We hope to see you there!

The Foundation is also seeking sponsorships for the event. People can learn more on the Foundation’s webpage.

Fundraising benefits the SMCC Foundation’s Annual fund which removes barriers and provides wrap-around services for students to assist them in reaching their educational goals. Examples include transportation, childcare, books and tools, mental health services, and support staff.
