Two years ago, President Jim Dlugos introduced our Call to Action Against Racism, which contained seven specific action items to improve our community, including creating an Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion headed by a full-time Director reporting directly to the president. The College has made significant progress on six of the seven action items. Today, we are pleased to announce our completion of the seventh: Mouhamadou Diagne will join the Saint Joseph’s College community as our first chief diversity officer. Mouhamadou comes to us from the Boston Islamic Seminary where he is currently the Student Affairs and Admission Manager. As the College’s Chief Diversity Officer, Mouhamadou will be responsible for supporting the College’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion – grounded in our Catholic and Mercy identity – by promoting academic integration, supporting student development, and promoting institutional and community resilience. He will be a resource for and actively engage students, faculty, staff, alumni, board and community members. Please join us in welcoming Mouhamadou to #SaintJoesMaine!
