Cost of college went up for all students at Empire Beauty School-Maine

Tuition and fees rose 10.3 percent for 2018-19 at Empire Beauty School-Maine, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maine students paid $17,625 to attend the private for-profit school this year – $1,650 more than the $15,975 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 58 students received grants or scholarships totaling $282,855 and 64 students took out student loans totaling more than $489,961.

Including all undergraduates (172), 145 students used grants or scholarships totaling $603,267, and 133 students took out $979,706 in federal student loans.
