Cost of college went up for all students at Bowdoin College

Tuition and fees rose 4 percent for 2018-19 at Bowdoin College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maine students paid $53,922 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $2,074 more than the $51,848 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 56 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 272 students received grants or scholarships totaling $11.8 million and 89 students took out student loans totaling more than $626,937.

Including all undergraduates (1,828), 899 students used grants or scholarships totaling $37.7 million, and 329 students took out $2.1 million in federal student loans.
