U.S. Senator Susan Collins, Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has addressed the President’s request for a rescissions package. The administration has proposed a $9.4 billion package aimed at rescinding funds previously allocated to various foreign aid programs and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Senator Collins stated that “The Congress will have 45 days to act on the proposed rescissions package.” She emphasized that despite the expedited process, “the Senate Appropriations Committee will carefully review the rescissions package and examine the potential consequences of these rescissions on global health, national security, emergency communications in rural communities, and public radio and television stations.”
